Report by the Crouchies

Ringmer's plight grew last night as they went down 2-1 at Crowborough who are bottom at the moment in the Division One league table. Despite Ringmer getting on the sheet first with a Joe Dryer goal after 63 minutes the visitors seemed to lose momentum after Crowborough scored with a goal from Sam Carrington.

The match was played at a frantic pace on a surface that sounded like concrete as the players thundered about. Both sides laid on plenty of pressure in the first half which gave to a scrappy affair, Lok, Tubon & Dryer coming close with shots for Ringmer but all failed to hit the target. Crowborough too had a few chances but also had trouble in making anything count, the half ended all square with no score.

Second half started as it had left off, frantic, but from this melee Ringmer drew the ball down the right a cross from Altendorff switched play to the left where Dryer was lurking, his shot from twenty yards out across goal swept past keeper Rob Gordon and into the net for the first goal of the match, minutes later Patel hit a shot that sped across the front of goal to go wide. Crowborough then came close with a shot that Hasan forced wide seconds later a Crows throw in into the Blues box caused panic and a shot blasted wide. Then on 75 minuted Sam Carrington turned a ball in from the edge of the box, incredibly it found it's way through a mass of players and into the Blues net past a bewildered and probably unsighted Gary Trott. Boyd up by the goal Crowborough turned up the wick and piled on the pressure, five minutes later the Crows got a second after another crowded Ringmer area melee, the ball finally finding the goal after deflecting of a Ringmer player for a home goal. Ringmer never got back into the game and it ended 2-1 to Crowborough.
