Three Bridges 1st X1 2 - 2 Ringmer 1st X1 Division One 12/12/09 Report by Malcolm Crouch
The Blues added a third 2-2 draw in a row at Three Bridges last Saturday and added one more point to keep them in 17th place just above the drop zone.
It was an uncomfortable 1st half for both sides as they battled end to end with few chances for either side. Ringmer's David Altendorff & Darren Lok both had shots go wide of goal, a similar story at the other end although Bridges scored on 15 minuets this was disallowed being offside. A few minutes later Blues keeper Gary Trott dived to save after a scramble in the Blues area. At the other end Lok's shot was saved by Mark Fox in the home goal. Thirty seven minutes in two defensive errors almost let Bridges in with both shots ending with good saves from Trott. Increasing pressure from the home side finally paid off after a shot was initially saved by Trott but the loose ball bounced on a few heads in the 6yd box and was finally headed in by Joel O'Hara. Ringmer seemed to loose their momentum and urgency and all looked lost for a leveller before the half time whistle then in the last seconds the ever hard working Jayson Sowter went through two defenders on the right and shot into the net from eighteen yards to equalize for the Blues.
A better performance from Ringmer was needed in the second half and it seemed promising after Sowter made another run down the right wing, evading the defence, put over a superb cross to Ringmer Captain, Mark Price, who shot was firmly planted in the net after only two minutes. Unfortunately for the Blues, eight minutes later Bridges equalized with a goal from their Captain Dean Carden, bringing it back level at 2-2. The home side then pressured Ringmer and looked the more likelier to score but poor shooting, a determined Ringmer defence, and some great saves from Trott, the Blues survived the onslaught. Ringmer came back in the last ten and had a few chances themselves but to no avail and the game ended all square at 2-2.
