Ringmer were made to work hard for the three points needed to regain top spot against a determined and resolution Oakwood team anxious to climb the table.
The Oaks took the lead in the third minute as Robbie Gardner run onto a long through ball down the right to fire in off the far post with Joe Adams beaten. In the next thirty minutes neither keeper was troubled with both defences in command and the only shots at goal heir intended target. Then a free kick from twenty five yards by Joe Dryer was tipped over the bar by Glen Fitzcoy. The resulting corner from Dryer was not cleared and finally fell for Jo Jo Tubon to fire home through a ruck of players to level the scores after thirty seven minutes. Then a run from the halfway line by Dryer ended when his shot was blocked by Fitzcoy and although Tubon was following up he shot wide of the goal.
The second half began with a spell of pressure from the home side with Joe Adams saving a shot from Mobsby before Tom Familton and Gary Bidwell both failed to hit the target from good positions. Then, with some twenty minutes left to play, a break from deep in the Ringmer half saw Sam Sowter run through the Oaks defence to set up a shot from Tubon which was just wide of the mark. The same players combined again moments later when a cross from Sowter was side-footed home at the far post by Tubon to put the Blues in front. A minute later Tubon narrowly missed a hat-trick when his header from a cross by Matt Percival was tipped over the bar by Fitzcoy. Although the home side pressed forward for an equaliser the closest either side came to scoring in the last fifteen minutes came when an intricate passing movement involving half the Ringmer team created a chance in front of goal for Luke Huggett who was unlucky to see his shot deflected off a defender for a corner.
