RINGMER 2ND XI 0 – 4 ARUNDEL 2ND XI RESERVE PREMIER DIVISION

It was hoped that Ringmer’s 2nd XI away win last weekend would kick start their season, but Arundel had other ideas and ran out winners this afternoon comprehensively beating us 0 – 4.

The first half was a scrappy affair with neither side really able to string anything meaningful together. However, Arundel took an early lead in the 15th minute as Ringmer’s defence failed to prevent a quality strike across goal, beating the outstretched Dave Philp and nestling into the bottom left hand corner. Arundel went into the break one goal up, but apart from that solitary strike there was little to separate the two teams.

The second half started with an early substitution for Ringmer as Neil gave Tom O’Donnell his first run out in a Ringmer shirt. Arundel extended their lead in the 57th minute when they capitalized on a miss-controlled pass in midfield with an effective counter attack and clinical finish.

Josh Hawkes had a fantastic chance in the 60th minute to peg back their lead after a wonderful passage of play, but The Arundel keeper who’d had an excellent game all afternoon, parried his shot out for a corner.

Arundel killed the game off in the 64th minute with their third goal of the afternoon, effectively snuffing out any hope that Ringmer had of getting anything from the game. Their fourth goal came in the 81st minute and was almost inevitable as Ringmer struggled with their terminal lack of confidence in the face of a strong and confident Arundel side.
